- Reports to the CTO.
- Internal contacts: will be managing the development team in Belgium and Egypt, will work closely with the CTO by translating concepts into technical solutions.
- Very frequent priority based interaction with the professional services and support team.
- Coaches and trains the development team, ensures a continuous drive in an agile environment, but also capable to lead his team to a corporate environment.
- Manages outsourced development/testing team.
- The development team is located both in Belgium as in Egypt.
- Is responsible for the software integration and the release management. (i.e. deciding when to branch, when to merge, when to integrate, when to promote software to a different stage)
- Works on technical specifications together with the engineering team, but won’t be in charge of software architecture nor the product management.
- Is end responsible for Quality and Release Management
- Is prepared to occasional travel.- Profile:
Education, knowledge and experience:
- University degree in engineering (or equal by experience)
- At least 7-10 years of IT experience
- Extensive experience with product development
- Experience with managing and coaching engineers
- Experience with managing product lifecycles
- Background as system engineer and developer: can install the product, read and review the produced code and ensure that coding and development guidelines are being followed
- Languages : English and DutchTechnical skills:
- Experience with product development (no GUI development, but real creation of products where the GUI itself is only a small fraction of total work).
- Experience with implementing development processes and methodologies
- Experience with resource planning
- Experience with (cross-platform) development
- Familiar with Unix/Linux, networking, datacenter…
- Good knowledge of Java (or other OO language), Python, kernel, database design and webservices architecture is required.
